Five Things to Check Out This Week

Hi and welcome back! Since I wrote my first post, I have been busy debugging my website and working out any kinks. I’m not exactly great with technology so this has been a huge learning curve for me. Thankfully, Squarespace has made the process fairly simple!

This week, I wanted to pull a page out of Grace Atwood’s blog (she’s amazing—go follow her and her blog!) and write about what I have been interested in or obsessed with lately. It can be anything from a blog post, a podcast or my favorite place to shop recently (not in that order—it can truly be anything!)

  • It’s summer time and I’ve been wearing dresses non-stop. Madewell is my go to for just about anything (especially dresses) but I can’t afford to drop $60-100 every time I see a dress of theirs that I like. I stopped by Marshall’s to see if they had anything that might catch my eye. I found three amazing linen dresses, all of them perfect for summer. If you’re not looking to spend a ton of money, I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by both of these stores to shop for your summer wardrobe!

  • If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with podcasts and am always looking for new recommendations as I tend to burn through any and every podcast. For the past couple of months, I have been steadily working through the Bad on Paper podcast and look forward to each new episode. The hosts, Grace and Becca, review books they have read recently as well as interview all sorts of fun guests. Their interview with Indie Lee, the founder of Indie Lee skincare, was one of my personal favorites and taught me so much about clean skincare. Grace and Becca have such a great way of making you feel like you are just sitting on a couch with your girlfriends over a cup of coffee. This podcast has inspired me to read more and I can happily say that my summer reading list has increased massively since I started listening to their podcast! If you’re looking for some summer reading recommendations or simply easy listening, I can’t recommend their podcast enough.

  • @whatkatefinds I’m always looking for fun new pages and blogs to follow on instagram and this is an account that I cannot get enough of! Kate gives honest reviews of products and always has great finds. Her lipstick of the day highlight is amazing. I have so many new colors to try after watching through that highlight.

  • West Wing Weekly: 0.07: Parks and Recreation. My sister-in-law told me about this particular episode and I immediately downloaded it. The hosts of WWW interview Adam Scott, Rob Lowe and Michael Schur for a beautiful snapshot of the behind the scenes creation of Parks and Rec.

  • This nail polish. It’s the perfect summer orange-red and I’ll be wearing this till Labor Day (and probably after). This year, I decided to stop getting manicures and just do it myself. I had heard of the Essie Gel polishes but was skeptical that they wouldn’t last—they do! Mine usually last about a week and a half which is almost the same length as a salon manicure for me. I haven’t done the math, but I know I have saved so much this year by not going to salons and just doing it myself!

What are you current obsessions? Any podcast recommendations for me?
